Set Up Your Change for Success Right from the Start

In this program, you will learn how to establish a strategic roadmap for your change that will:

  • Align your entire organization to the same change goals, scope, and process
  • Reveal to leaders what it will really require of them and the organization to succeed
  • Reduce chaos and confusion by ensuring all stakeholders understand your strategic path to success and their part in it
  • Provide clarity for how key change decisions will be made
  • Outline how you will engage the commitment of stakeholders
  • Ensure the positioning, capacity and strategic resourcing of your initiative
  • Clarify the governance, infrastructure, and milestones so change teams know the rules of the game

Establish an Overarching Guidance System for Your Change

You would never run a business without a sound business strategy. So why attempt complex transformation without a clear change strategy?

Transformation is every bit as complex as running a business. Since you may be initiating your change before you have clear outcomes, the change process can be highly dynamic and require many course corrections and adjustments. The human dynamics can be extremely complex because transformation requires stakeholders to take on unfamiliar territory, which is stressful and can trigger significant resistance.

Change strategy creates a level of order to this complexity. Rather than hope for success inside the chaos of change, or worse, delegate the handling of the chaos several levels down in the organization, a clear change strategy provides the path to success that leaders and staff can both see and understand. With everyone aligned to a common process and outcome, change strategy mobilizes action in extraordinary ways. Resistance naturally goes down and commitment rises because people can see how results will be achieved. Change strategy establishes good sponsorship, focuses people on the right work and enables them to positively contribute to success, individually and collectively. As a strategy, it provides essential guidance to your detailed implementation plan, which is developed later in the change process.

Get Organized and Increase Efficiency and Speed

In building an effective change strategy, leaders become very clear about what it will take to succeed. This builds alignment and commitment in them, and ensures adequate and sustained allocation of resources. It addresses how to mitigate negative impacts on business operations as you change, and provides a more accurate assessment of your integration and capacity needs.

How many times have you seen change efforts start, falter, and finally get abandoned without ever delivering their intended ROI? Your change strategy will keep this from happening by ensuring, up front, that leaders and staff understand the path to success and what it will take to carry it out all the way to the end.

Learn Best Practices You Can Immediately Use

The Change Strategy program will teach you everything you need to know to build a successful change strategy for your current--and all future--change efforts. You will:

  • Develop your confidence, knowledge, and skills to build an effective change strategy for even the most complex changes
  • Become competent with the best tools, resources, and approaches
  • Learn how to handle the leadership, facilitation, and consulting challenges that accompany critical aspects of this work

Deepen Your Skills in Developing Each Element of Change Strategy

In the Leading Transformation program, participants received an overview of each of the twelve elements of change strategy, specifically exploring change governance, roles and structures, communications and engagement. In this course, you will deepen your skills in the other elements. You will learn best practices, tips and tools, and apply these in real time on your own change effort. You will be guided by Linda Ackerman Anderson, co-creator of The Change Leader’s Roadmap, about how to tailor each element to the specific needs of your change and your organization. You will apply all of your new insights and tools to your current change effort, and leave with a tailored change strategy for your initiative and clear actions on how to engage the leaders of your change to complete it. The pre-course work will get you started by addressing the inputs to change strategy, and the post-course work will ensure that you are set up for successful execution of it.

You will become skilled in each of these areas:

  • Values and Guiding Principles: How to define and use values and guiding principles to shape your change process to model your desired culture
  • Governance Structure: How to clarify your change roles, structures, decision-making, interfaces with operations, and infrastructures
  • Initiatives: How to define your initiatives for the full scope of your change and integrate them into a unified direction
  • Fit and Priority: How to determine the fit and priority of your change effort among all other changes and events going on in the organization so that your effort is positioned appropriately
  • Integration and Alignment: How to create a multiple project integration and alignment strategy, structure, and process
  • Bold Actions: How to use bold actions to wake up your organization to the seriousness of the change
  • Engagement: How to create a highly effective engagement strategy that generates the best input, contribution and support from your stakeholders
  • Communications: How to create a change communication plan that mobilizes, informs, and enrolls your stakeholders in achieving the best results possible
  • Acceleration Strategy: How to ensure that conditions are in place for maximum speed
  • Resources: How to indentify resources required for the change to succeed
  • Timeline: How to identify the critical milestones and timeline for accomplishing your change
